Rocky Mountain organic water kefir grains (also known as tibicos) have been specifically created to make home kefir brewing as simple as possible. Simply rehydrate your kefir grains and place them in a simple solution of sugar and filtered water. Rocky Mountain Kefir Organic Water Kefir Grains are proudly made in the USA. What is Kefir? Kefir is a fermented drink, filled with probiotics which is made by combining special cultures, called kefir grains, in a sugar water solution. Drinking kefir helps boost your immune system, improves your digestion, helps regulate your cholesterol, and has many other health benefits. Compared to store-bought, homemade-kefir contains a much higher degree of probiotics and other beneficial bacteria. Water kefir is light and tangy and can be made into a refreshing naturally carbonated soda! Rehydration Instructions: 1. Place dehydrated kefir grains into a clean 1 quart glass jar 2. Add 1 cup of filtered room temperature mineral water - allow to sit for 10 minutes 3. Add 1/4 cup (4 tbs) of sugar (mix of 3 tbs of white sugar + 1 tbs of brown or rapadura sugar works best) 4. Add additional filtered room temperature mineral water to fill the jar (~3 cups) - do not fill beyond the shoulder of the jar and try to leave 1" space from the rim - stir with wooden spoon until sugar is disolved 5. Cover top of jar with cloth or papertowel held with an elastic and store away from direct sunlight for 48 hours 6. After 48 hours, strain your rehydrated kefir grains into a fresh batch of sugar water and repeat fermentation - Please note that it is not recommended to consume this primary rehydration batch For Step-by-step instructions and further reciepes please see reserve side of packaging.
